18 October 2025 — Supporting Women’s Health Through Midlife and Beyond
At Heal & Zeal Digital, we believe every woman deserves to feel empowered, informed, and supported through every stage of life and menopause is no exception.
This World Menopause Day, we celebrate the power of Lifestyle Medicine in helping women thrive through midlife and beyond.
The International Menopause Society (IMS) has released a landmark report; The Role of Lifestyle Medicine in Menopausal Health: A Review of Non-Pharmacologic Interventions (2025) highlighting how evidence-based lifestyle changes can ease menopausal symptoms, reduce the risk of chronic disease, and enhance long-term wellbeing.

Why Lifestyle Medicine Matters
Menopause isn’t the end of youth, it’s the beginning of renewal.
As hormones shift, lifestyle becomes one of the most powerful tools women can use to protect their heart, bones, and mental health.
The IMS White Paper emphasizes six key pillars; nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, social connection, and avoidance of risky habits, as essential for improving quality of life and long-term health during and after menopause.

Wellness Tips for Women
The White Paper encourages women to:
- Eat Smart: Adopt a balanced, plant-forward diet (like the Mediterranean or DASH diet) rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and healthy fats.
- Move Often: Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate activity per week and 2 strength sessions to support bone, heart, and metabolic health.
- Sleep Deeply: Create a consistent bedtime routine and address any sleep disturbances early.
- Manage Stress: Mindfulness, breathing exercises, or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help ease hot flashes and mood changes.
- Avoid Harmful Habits: Quit smoking and limit alcohol to lower cardiovascular and cancer risks.
- Stay Connected: Positive social connections and emotional support improve resilience and wellbeing.

For Health Professionals
The White Paper encourages clinicians to:
- Integrate lifestyle assessment and counseling into every midlife visit.
- Collaborate with nutrition, exercise, and mental health experts for holistic care.
- Support public awareness programs that make lifestyle medicine accessible for all women.
- Use this evidence to guide policy, education, and clinical training for menopausal care.

Our Message
Lifestyle medicine isn’t an alternative, it’s the foundation of women’s health. We also believe when symptoms need extra support, treatments like hormone replacement therapy can work alongside healthy habits to help women feel their best.
This World Menopause Day, let’s celebrate every woman’s right to age with energy, confidence, and serenity. Together, we can transform menopause into a time of empowerment, growth, and renewed vitality.
